One of the things I’ve always enjoyed by participating in Florida’s art festivals was the direct interaction with the many people who came by our display over the course of a weekend. It allowed them to see firsthand what our work looked like & if they weren’t in the market at the time, it gave them an idea for the future. Such was the case with Max & Patricia who saw our furniture at the Stuart Atsfest Festival in the past & were now ready to place some of my work in their home. Recently they drove up from their home in Port St Lucie to take a look at some of my sofa/foyer tables. They also saw a couple of driftwood lamps they liked but weren’t sure how they would look. So I told them to take them home to find out. If they were a fit they could just send me a check & if not just bring them back when they were in Orlando. The next day they let me know I wasn’t getting them back & they just happened to have the perfect shades for them.
We aren’t participating in any shows this year (first time in over 30 years) & although we won’t miss the travel & hard work of setting up a display, we will miss the one on one times we’ve had with the many wonderful people who like what we create.
