A day at the beach
Once again Nikki & I were recently able to take a long weekend to go to Manasota Key & combine it with delivering some redwood tables that customers had commissioned me to create.
Marcin who has a marble business in Sarasota had previously been to my store in Orlando & purchased a redwood burl coffee table. Now he wanted a unique redwood dining table to compliment it (all detailed in a previous post). He had planned to drive up & pick it up but was having a hard time getting away to do that. When I mentioned that we were coming his way & could drop it off at his home he was all for that idea. It was just a short ways off I-75 & we were once again on our way to the beach.
A little while later we were having a grouper finger lunch at our favorite Lock-n-Key restaurant at Manasota. Once at our place at the beach we didn’t leave again until Sunday afternoon. One of the advantages of having a large cargo van to travel in is that it will carry a lot including my grill ( steaks, salmon & beef ribs on this trip) & still have room to bring along some deliveries.
I had been working on a small redwood burl coffee table for Kevin who lived in Naples & when I realized that I would be able to finish it before our trip I asked him if he would be willing to drive up & pick it up. He readily agreed & on Friday afternoon we took it out of my van & placed in the back of his SUV.Although we had thunderstorms every afternoon we still had a few beautiful sunsets, a lot of peaceful time on the beach & a visit from the resident blue heron who even decided to stroll up to our apartment to check out the accommodations.
