A double base driftwood dining table
One of my biggest summer projects to date has been a request for a driftwood dining table base that would accommodate a 48 x 120 x 3/4″ glass. New York designer, Kate Knicely, had a client who was renovating a summer home in Allenhurst, New Jersey. With a glass that size & weight, I knew that one large driftwood base wouldn’t be sufficient, so that meant coming up with 2 very sturdy matching bases.
As with most of my dining table bases, I turn the root base vertically, so there is one side displaying the root system (the most aesthetic side) & the other side displaying the trunk.

My first contact with supplying one of my pieces for a client of Kate’s came at the beginning of last year. Once again it was for a rather large table, this time a driftwood coffee table base to support a 54″ round glass. I had been saving a particularly beautiful but massive stump for such a request & upon completion I think it was one of the nicest large driftwood coffee tables I’ve ever been privileged to create.
It’s been a pleasure dealing with Kate & seeing how she uses my creations in her transformation of a room. She can be contacted by e-mail at houzzdesigns@aol.com or phone (732) 673-3694 & some of her amazing projects can be viewed via Instagram at @houzzdesigns.
