Cape Coral Arts & Crafts Festival
This past weekend we participated in our first art show of the season in Cape Coral near the Ft Myers/Naples area. It’s a show we’ve done many times & at this time of year you never know what to expect weather wise. Well, it was a perfect weekend & the people turned out in droves. Set up doesn’t start until 7:00 Friday night when they close the street & 3 hours later we were ready for the next day. Saturday morning started out with a customer picking up a table that she had commissioned me to create and ended with a gentleman purchasing my large sandblasted foyer table & an oval lacquered table. After we delivered them to his home on the water we discovered a great new restaurant called the Lobster Lady. Although we didn’t order one they had dozens & dozens of live lobsters to choose for dinner. That 5# one they pulled out for a customer was certainly impressive. Sunday was also a good day with a sun bleached coffee table going to a new home in Canada & 3 floor lamps also finding new homes. In addition we also sold quite a few of our bandsaw jewelry boxes. With the increase of online exposure & sales now coming from all over the country, we’ve greatly reduced the number of shows we do each year. It would be hard to give them up all together, although in my next life I’m going to come back as a jeweler going to shows with a couple of brief cases in a minivan….much easier on the body. It’s always rewarding being able to interact directly with people about my work, have previous customers come by & let me know how much they still enjoy my furniture & give future customers something to think about down the road.
Those pics of the fully stocked booth must have been early in the weekend!
