Redwood dining table
Several years ago Marcin came to my store & purchased a large second growth redwood burl coffee table that I had in my showroom. I recently received a call asking if I could create for him a redwood dining table. I’ve made several redwood desks in the past, so the concept would be the same but instead of seating one it needed to seat 4. He chose a very unique slab that had an irregular shape & a few internal cavities which he wanted left open…the more natural the better. The next thing was to come up with the proper bases that would accommodate the top. Fortunately, I had quite a few driftwood stumps that I had set aside for floor lamps so I selected 2 of those that would work. Once they were trimmed down & leveled the table began to take shape. As I do with all my customers, but especially with a piece as unusual as this one, I keep them updated with pictures as the table progresses. Marcin was very patient with me but finally I had something to show him. He hasn’t been able to drive up yet to it pick it up, but I’m anxious to get some pictures once he has it in its new home.
That’s gorgeous, Donald. Looking forward to seeing it in residence.
