Wedding at the Wind and Sea

Wedding at the Wind and Sea

DSC_3069As I mentioned in my last blog, Nikki & I were headed to Big Sur, California for our son, Nick’s marriage to Alexis. The big event took place last Saturday but there was no internet or cell coverage there & very spotty in the other places we visited on the way back to San Francisco where we will be for the next few days.

Although we stayed in a very quaint but rustic lodging called Deetjens, the ceremony was held in a beautiful home, called Wind & Sea, that overlooked the Pacific Ocean. I was told that it is a venue that is often used for weddings that have included Ann Hathaway, Natalie Portman & Sean Parker (Facebook). It is an idyllic setting for a small wedding with a breathtaking view of the coastline.  I plan to post a future blog (or two) on the rest of our  travels but the following images are of  what we were blessed to be a part of.DSC_2671DSC_2798DSC_2810DSC_2831DSC_2881DSC_2894At this time of the year it is common for the fog to come rolling in off the Pacific & completely blanket the coast. Fortunately for both the rehearsal & the wedding the fog burned off & we had beautiful blue skies.DSC_3421 DSC_3448DSC_3464DSC_3465DSC_3487DSC_3499DSC_3545We also have been to Napa Valley (Sonoma), Muir Woods to see the giant redwoods & Sausalito on the waterfront. Today a tour of San Francisco & then home  & Driftwood Decor.

  1. Absolutely beautiful. We’ve actually been to those areas, and it is spectacular. Don, don’t go getting any ideas about chopping down any of the redwoods (not that you could) to use as table bases for Driftwood Decor! lol We actually did a tour on the Wine Train years ago. You might enjoy checking that out, too. It’s a day-long excursion. Most recently, we went to Big Sur and Cambria the other year, but in those neck of the woods, I love Monterey. It’s just spectacular scenery along that part of the coastline and country. Many Congratulations to Nick and Alexis. Safe travels home.

  2. We were so happy to be a part of Nick and Alexis’ wedding. Spending that time with you and Nikki was so special. Not sure where you’re staying in San Francisco but we were in the little San Remo Hotel on Mason in North Beach, just a few blocks from the Wharf. We found the Little Italy section to be our favorite with fantastic restaurants. Our favorite was the Fior d’Italia located just below the San Remo – freshly made pasta – delicious. Have fun, and anxious to see photos – I just posted my photos from the Sea and Wind on FB.
